Nike Air Force 1 Releases - Page 21

Bruce Kilgore designed the Air Force 1 in 1982 as the first basketball shoe to feature Nike Air technology. Named after the presidential aircraft, it became a hip-hop icon in the 1980s. The clean, customizable design has made it Nike's best-selling shoe ever, with over 2,000 colorways released.

To celebrate the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany, Nike released a capsule of Air Force 1s honoring five of the teams competing in the tournament. The select group comprised South Korea, Brazil, The Netherlands, Portugal and—in the case of this green, white and red design—Mexico. Inspired by the country’s tricolor flag, the shoe boasts a patent leather construction across the upper. A Mexican flag emblem appears on the tongue, and a lightly embossed texture lines the inner collar. Aztec print covers the insole.
