The Nike Kobe 8 Protro 'Year of the Horse' celebrates the close bond that Kobe Bryant shared with Pau Gasol. Equestrian-inspired details nod to a 2012 charity auction during which the teammates engaged in a bidding war for a thoroughbred racehorse named Sempre Mio. The low-top carries a tan suede upper with a brown pony hair Swoosh on the lateral side. Decorative stitching covers a powder blue suede overlay that wraps around the heel. Kobe's Sheath logo adorns each tongue, while horseshoe lace dubraes are marked with 'Siempre Hermanos,' a Spanish phrase that translates to 'Always Brothers.' This Protro edition features a drop-in React foam midsole for lightweight cushioning. Underfoot, a two-tone translucent rubber outsole in red and blue reveals an exposed glass-based carbon fiber shank.
