The Air Jordan 14 (1998) was inspired by Michael Jordan's love of fast cars, specifically his Ferrari 550 Maranello. Tinker Hatfield incorporated automotive design elements throughout the shoe.
This was the shoe MJ wore when he hit "The Last Shot" - the iconic game-winner over Bryon Russell that sealed the 1998 championship. The Jumpman logo placement mimics the Ferrari prancing horse badge.
While not as popular as some other Jordan models, the 14 offers excellent value for collectors. The Ferrari connection and Last Shot history give it lasting significance in the Jordan line.

Jordan 14 resale prices range from $150-240 for general releases, $180-300 for OG colorways (Last Shot, Ginger, Thunder), and $300-600 for limited editions. The Jordan 14 is known for its Ferrari-inspired design and is the shoe MJ wore for the Last Shot in the 1998 Finals. Lower demand compared to other Jordans keeps prices accessible.
The Jordan 14 is inspired by Michael Jordans Ferrari 550 Maranello. Tinker Hatfield incorporated automotive design elements: (1) The sleek, aerodynamic profile mirrors the cars body lines, (2) Jumpman logo on side resembles Ferrari shield badge, (3) Carbon fiber plate on sole matches Ferraris carbon fiber components, (4) Speed lacing system inspired by racing harnesses. MJ was known for his love of fast cars.
Most valuable Jordan 14s: (1) Supreme x Jordan 14 = $400-700, (2) Doernbecher Jordan 14 = $500-900, (3) Last Shot OG 1999 = $400-800, (4) Thunder 2014 = $250-350, (5) Ferrari Yellow (Ginger) = $220-320. The Supreme collaboration and Doernbecher charity release command the highest modern premiums.
The Jordan 14 offers solid basketball performance with some caveats. Pros: Full-length Zoom Air cushioning, carbon fiber shank for support, premium leather durability. Cons: Heavier than modern basketball shoes, break-in period required, low ankle cut may not suit all players. Best for casual play or collectors who want to occasionally hoop. For serious basketball, newer Jordans or performance shoes are better choices.
